Jim Hails is an independent filmmaker and musician based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Originally from the small town of Apollo, he draws from both his rural upbringing and his life in the city to create works blending surrealism, comedy, and horror.

As a multidisciplinary filmmaker, Jim works across directing, editing, sound design, producing, composing, and more. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Cinema Production from Point Park University in 2022, where he developed an appreciation for every aspect of filmmaking.

Shortly after Jim graduated, he went on to gain professional experience being a production & locations assistant for studio films and TV shows, such as Netflix's "Sweet Girl", FX's "Justified: City Primeval", and Paramount+'s "Mayor of Kingstown". Since then, he has increasingly gained appreciation for independent and freelance work in the Pittsburgh area. Having a love for music since a young age, he has focused on using his film production skills to make promo and music videos for local music artists. He has also created musical projects under multiple monikers, including Bugabot, frogesque, Stone the Wizard, and We'll Be Right Back.
